Dino and Baby Puss…

- – Forget that dinosaurs didn’t live happily alongside cavemen, and that there was no genus “Snorkosaurus;”   just relax and enjoy the presence of Dino (pronounced DEE-no) the dinosaur on The Flintstones. Acting more like a labrador retriever than a reptile, Dino barks, slobbers, romps, and cavorts, especially when Fred Flintstone arrived home from a long day at the slate quarry…

The cat on The Flintstones, BTW, was called Baby Puss, and was basically a saber-toothed tiger, who was more than smart enough to lock Fred out of the house when he attempted to put Baby out for the night.   Sadly, Baby Puss was largely seen during the closing credits…

It’s true. In fact, there are only two episodes where either family was seen with a pet feline WITHIN the story. The time Fred adopted an orphan lion cub.
And, a Fourth Wall-breaking comment by a medium-sized sabertooth, in response to Betty tickling Barney’s feet (don’t ask!).

Btw: Dino was ret-conned after his official debut. He was originally depicted as a dinosaurian con artist. Including a voice-over reminiscent of Phil Silvers as Sergeant Bilko!

I did not know that! I guess that Dino decided to sell out and go with an easy domestic life. Many today don’t even know who Sergeant Bilko was! How quickly we forget…(sighs)

In that case, slap ‘em upside the head with a foxglove
